| | Today marks my second week without smoking. Yay!
Here's what did it: Allen Carr's "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking." If you have someone close who smokes, consider giving them a copy. I smoked one to one-and-a-half packs a day; told myself that I enjoyed it; thought I had an addictive personality; thought I lacked self-control because of this. I read this book, and it was like a mist lifted up. And, more than nearly anything else I've read recently, this book has reaffirmed my faith in the power of words -- because just reading it profoundly affected the way I thought, the way I perceived and the way I acted about this aspect of my life. |
